Seit der Gründung 1989 durch Helga Maria Klosterfelde steht die Produktion von Editionen und Multiples im Mittelpunkt des Galerieprogramms. Anlässlich des 35-jährigen Jubiläums zeigt Klosterfelde Edition zum Gallery Weekend Berlin ausgewählte Werke von den 1990er Jahren bis heute. Im Fokus steht der künstlerische Umgang mit dem Medium Edition – eine Kunstform, die einer Vielzahl von Menschen den Besitz von Kunst ermöglicht. Inwieweit hat sich das Format von Editionen und Multiples über die letzten 35 Jahre verändert? Wie gehen zeitgenössische Künstler*innen heute mit dem Medium um? Dabei konzentriert sich die Auswahl auf Kunstschaffende, die in den letzten vier Dekaden kontinuierlich mit der Galerie zusammengearbeitet haben. Anhand der ausgewählten Arbeiten lädt die Ausstellung ein, die Entwicklung dieser wohl demokratischsten Kunstform nachzuvollziehen.

Exploring Human Perception: A Decade-Long Dialogue in Recombining Realities Duo Exhibition
Announcing the forthcoming exhibition “Recombining Realities,” an exploration into human perception and cognition, as manifested through the artistic partnership of Jorinde Voigt and Charlie Stein. This unique collaboration reflects a decade-long dialogue between the artists, culminating in a succinct inquiry into the complexities of subjective reality and external stimuli. Voigt and Stein, bonded by a shared intellectual curiosity and artistic camaraderie cultivated over the years, present their distinct perspectives on perception through their respective mediums. Voigt’s precise renderings and sculptural compositions serve as navigational aids, guiding observers through the intricate landscapes of personal, psychological, and physical realms. Known in particular for her large scale drawings, in this show Voigt features sculptural works from her distinct cosmos. Meanwhile, Stein using oil painting for her portrayal of robotic entities, abstracted shapes and glossy latex surfaces introduces a provocative counterpoint, prompting viewers to confront the intricacies of human consciousness and artistic expression.This exhibition serves as a testament to the enduring dialogue between Voigt and Stein, whose friendship has served as a fertile ground for intellectual exchange and creative exploration. Through meticulous curation and the seamless integration of divergent perspectives, “Recombining Realities” emerges as a crucible for inquiry and aesthetic reflection, inviting viewers to embark on a journey of discovery and contemplation.

The show exhibits essentially abstract works by a range of artists whose visual power is likewise catalyzed by the incursion or absorption of factors beyond the picture plane. The exhibition is inspired by Alfred Jensen, whose paintings and drawings maintain a center of energy between abstract form and an array of idea structures. Jensen’s thinking was shaped by his deep interest in realities outside of the strict visual concerns of painting or drawing, such as philosophy, physics, mathematics, and calendrical time. The other featured artists similarly draw upon diverse systems, including statistical data, language and text, and mapped social or political matrices.

Musik und Bildender Kunst wohnt die Kraft inne, den Gefühlen menschlicher Erfahrung Ausdruck zu verleihen und sie mitzuteilen. Doch die Zeichnung von Voigt ist auf den ersten Blick schwer zu entschlüsseln: Abstrakte Beziehungen zwischen ganz unterschiedlichen Komponenten fügen sich zu einer Art Diagramm zusammen, das ebenso monumental wie fragil wirkt. Jorinde Voigt ist in klassischer Musik ausgebildet und lässt dynamische Impulse, Takte von Popsongs, zwei Küssende, Detonationen, einen Temperaturverlauf und einen Zeitstrahl zu einer rätselhaften Partitur werden. Dabei widmet sie sich nicht nur akustischen Signalen, sondern stellt einen ganzen akustischen Wahrnehmungsraum im zweidimensionalen Bildmedium dar. Das Diagramm konstruiert dabei eine ganz eigene Realität. Würde man beispielsweise versuchen, die Notationen der Popsongs abzuspielen, bekäme man ein Rauschen zu hören – der praktische Nutzen als musikalische Partitur ist also begrenzt. Vielmehr geht es um die Wahrnehmung per se: Wie kann Musik auch ohne Notenschrift einen grafischen Ausdruck finden? Wie können Geräusche visuell erfahrbar werden? Wie lassen sich akustische und visuelle Erfahrungen verschmelzen? Die Schenkung Sammlung Hoffmann lässt zeitgenössische Werke mit den Objekten der unterschiedlichen Museen der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden in einen Dialog treten, um für die heutigen wie die historischen Exponate neue Betrachtungsweisen und Bedeutungsebenen zu öffnen. Auch bei Carl Gustav Carus blickt man auf eine geheimnisvolle Szene: Ruhig und solitär steht eine Harfe in einer mediterranen Landschaft, nichts deutet auf ein baldiges Konzert hin. Es wird deutlich: Diese Harfe soll nicht gespielt werden, sie ist ein rein symbolisches Element. Beiden Werken ist der Versuch einer Visualisierung von akustischen Phänomenen gemeinsam.

Das Auge vermag nicht nur zu sehen, sondern auch zu begreifen. Visuell lässt sich Material, seine Struktur und Beschaffenheit abtasten und mit haptischen Erinnerungen zu einem nahezu vollständigen Bild einer Oberfläche zusammenfügen – ohne diese jemals berührt zu haben. Naturgemäß spielt die Wahl des Materials im künstlerischen Prozess eine wesentliche Rolle; sowohl aus ästhetischen oder rein praktischen Gründen, aber auch aufgrund ihres soziokulturellen Stellenwerts. Die Möglichkeiten und Spielarten sind mannigfaltig. ‚Reflections on Surface’ zeigt Werke von 15 Positionen, die Materialität auf unterschiedlichste Weise reflektieren und für sich nutzen. Mit Werken von Donald Baechler, Joseph Beuys, Tony Cragg, Julia Emslander, Ulrich Erben, Jan Fabre, Gregor Hildebrandt, Jannis Kounellis, Olaf Metzel, Matt Mullican, Mimmo Paladino, Julião Sarmento, Ludwig Stalla und Jorinde Voigt.

Mit 21 informellen, konzeptuellen und kalligrafischen Positionen zeitgenössischer Kunst geht die Ausstellung der Faszination internationaler Künstlerinnen für die Schrift in einer von Bildern übersättigten Medienwelt nach.Hauptleihgeberin der Ausstellung ist die WRITTEN ART COLLECTION. Sie widmet sich Formen der Schrift, die historisch von der informellen Malerei im Westen über die zeitgenössische Kalligrafie im Mittleren und Fernen Osten bis zu den zahlreichen Formen heutiger internationaler Konzeptkunst reichen.

im Atelier Liebermann: Jorinde Voigt – Constant Vision, Stiftung Brandenburger Tor im Max Liebermann Haus, Berlin

In der Ausstellungsreihe im Atelier Liebermann widmet sich die Stiftung Brandenburger Tor der Frage nach dem künstlerischen Entstehungsprozess in der Gegenwartskunst. Das Format knüpft gedanklich daran an, dass Max Liebermanns Haus am Pariser Platz ein Atelierhaus und damit ein Ort aktueller Kunstproduktion gewesen ist.

In der Stiftung Brandenburger Tor zeigt Jorinde Voigt erstmals die bislang größte, zusammenhängende Installation ihrer Werkgruppe Betrachtung / Contemplation (2019–2021). Vor nachtblauem Hintergrund werden die an Mobiles erinnernden Objekte aus Messingketten und -drähten im gesamten Ausstellungsbereich des Erdgeschosses präsentiert. Die Komposition der Mobiles basiert auf der Fibonacci-Folge. Die Proportionen dieses mathematischen Systems finden sich in der Pflanzen- und Tierwelt, aber auch im menschlichen Körper und Universum wieder. In Betrachtung / Contemplation werden mit Hilfe dieses Systems ästhetische Formulierungen im Raum zu Fragen der Wahrnehmung und Stabilität für die Besucher*innen erfahrbar gemacht.

Im zweiten Teil der Ausstellung gibt Jorinde Voigt einen Einblick in die Entstehung ihrer Kunst. Grundlegend ist ihre analytisch-konzeptuelle Herangehensweise. Die Künstlerin erarbeitet eine Handlungsanweisung, auf der jede Arbeit basiert. Auch sammelt sie Wahrnehmungsfragmente ihrer Umwelt anhand von Objekten und Fotos. Im Max Liebermann Haus präsentiert sie eine darauf basierende farbige Wandarbeit und weitere Zeichnungen und Skulpturen sowie ergänzende Materialien aus ihrem künstlerischen Schaffensprozess.

In the exhibition 2.0 featuring Jorinde Voigt and Xiyadie, paper transcends its two-dimensional origin and becomes the silent narrator of tales of delicacy, rebellion, and existence. The title of the show has several meanings: It refers to the exhibition being the first one in P Two One Gallery’s new space called 2.0, to the fact that the exhibition presents two artists, as well as to the binary symbolism of the numbers – 2 representing existence and material and 0 representing absence or the subconscious. The overlap of the artists practices is predominately their use of material but presenting them alongside one another brings out conceptual parallels too, allowing alternate readings of each artist’s work. For both of them, the fragility of each cut or fold becomes a poetic maker of time, capturing moments in the creation of the artwork. Jorinde Voigt and Xiyadie also share an exploration of ecological representation. Voigt’s abstractions featuring tree leaves converse with Xiyadie’s organic masses infused with fauna and flora, with paper at the center of their works becoming a conduit for the interconnectedness of life.
